Clear and Present Danger-The Nuclear Proliferation Threat:

Whether we realize it or not, the fact remains that we daily live under the threat of a nuclear strike. In previous times of history, citizens living within the U.S. mostly feared an attack emanating from the USSR or Russia. However, in today’s modern world, new dangers have emerged. There exists the threat of rogue states potentially delivering a nuclear strike. Some view a nuclear empowered North Korea as a threat, or countries with nuclear ambitions such as Iran. Whether these nations are indeed enemies is still left open for debate as negotiations and dialogue with these states regarding nuclear power continues. However, it is almost universally agreed that radicalized terrorists have sought, and continue to seek, the acquisition of nuclear weapons, and these terrorists are considered by experts to be a source of clear and present danger.
